The main aim of the Inspiration Project is to inspire young black women to make their own positive choices which will enable them to fulfil their aspirations.
The project allows young women to develop confidence and self-esteem through active participation in developing exciting new programmes.
The times of groups vary dependent upon the young women’s needs and availability. These are usually between 2-3 sessions taking place on a weekly basis.

Since June 2003 we started to work on developing a new unit that would allow young women to gain more of an insight into their own cultural background and also gain a certificate through the Open College Network (OCN). We named the unit Culture, Image and Positive Identity and to date the programme has run successfully with a number of groups. |
As a result of the programme we have seen dramatic changes in a number of our young women. They now understand who they are and how society can perceive them.

They recognise that they have to take responsibility for their own actions and that through open and honest discussion they have the power to take their lives in any desired direction.
We have run a year long media programme which has seen a new community magazine develop called ‘Cultivate’.
The aim of this magazine is for young black women to be given the opportunity to voice what they feel the wider community at large should know. In addition to this we have worked with various school groups running self esteem programmes.
